David MJ Gandesbery is a husband and father of four with 17 years experience as a safety and security specialist in the health care industry. He will restore trust, transparency, and professionalism to Norman City Council.
The Issues
Vote of the People on Arena TIF
5 people shouldn't bind us to 25-year deals. The people get to vote on water rates and school bonds, we should have a vote on the Arena TIF.
Solutions, not rhetoric, for Homelessness
The council has had a lot to say but very little to do about solving the issues of homelessness and unaffordable housing. They voted to spend $600M on entertainment when a fraction of that could potentially solve major issues for our unhoused population.
Access to Mental Health Care
With the State removing Griffin Memorial Hospital from Norman, we must find more avenues of access to care. Our schools, families, and unhoused population all need us working toward solving problems, not just complaining about them.
Protect resident from the Turnpike
It's not the City's job to help the State take away the homes of thousands of our residents.
Food Security
When he was a child, David's family struggled to afford food. In this time of rising inflation, our City currently doesn't support any food initiatives. David will work to change that.
Represent Ward 1, not special interests
Ward 1 is often left behind in the conversation about where City resources should be focused. David will listen to us and vote according to what's best for Ward 1, not what's best for the other side of town.
